Founding Learning Lead

Member of Learning Staff · Full-time · Remote friendly, New York preferred

$170,000–$220,000 base + equity

Kale is building a computer for curious kids ages 6–12. We're looking for someone to shape how children learn on it.

We're designing our own learning experiences from the ground up, bringing them together in one cohesive, child-friendly computer.

This role sits at the intersection of learning science, curriculum, and digital product design.

What you'll do

  • Design and build Kale's own digital learning experiences, from activities and instruction to feedback and assessment.
  • Shape how we integrate existing partner curricula, making it easy for children to move between subjects while preserving what makes each program great.
  • Architect a knowledge graph connecting concepts, skills, and prerequisites across subjects, and design how kids progress toward mastery.
  • Work hands-on with product, design, and engineering to build, test, and continuously improve how learning works on Kale.
  • Collaborate with learning scientists, educators, and subject specialists to ensure our experiences are pedagogically sound.

Who we're looking for

Someone who has built and shipped great digital learning products for children. You understand how kids learn, think in systems, and can turn educational ideas into intuitive software.

You don't need to be an expert in every subject or write every lesson yourself. You do need to know how to bring great curriculum, technology, and learning science together.

We're not trying to recreate school on a screen. We're building a computer that helps kids learn independently, follow their curiosity, and develop real mastery.

Apply

Upload or paste a link. A portfolio of shipped learning products counts too.

Tell us your part in it, how you knew kids were actually learning, and what you'd do differently. Links and screenshots welcome. A few paragraphs is plenty.
